The Plague of My Mistakes
By Meetta J. Martin

Mistakes that chase me even now, overs years end...attack me like a plague.
The benefits of right choices that deserved to be made in the moment, have long left and died. The tragedy of that death, OH! The pain of the scars left behind.
New skin wants to break through and cover over where the wounds had cut SO deep.
But bleeding still, so they cannot mend.
Words and images created by the plague of my mistakes.
How will I know when will it all end?
How do I make them go away?
Is there no medicine for me?
Living the reality of failures and wrong choices made....
it's hard to climb out of bed some times.
Hard to GO TO BED at other times, haunted by the plague of my mistakes.
(Don't stay up late or get up early worrying", so the lover of my soul had written.)
Still, on those mornings when all of it...slumber, sleepless nights, doubt, bad dreams, all come together to form the heaviness of my body, holding it still by the cement of my regrets...a warriors spirit is put to the test.
And in those moments, I whisper to myself on the inside and speaking louder on the outside often, in the times when I'm having trouble listening to even my own words of wisdom.
I tell myself "Get up. Just Get moving."
Get up,. Get moving! Daylight has come. A new day has awaken. Night is no longer here.
The memories of those things that invade your dreams from years past, will fall away.
They are not true for you now!
Get up! Today is a new day!
Those things that haunt you still, the plague of your mistakes,
they live in another time in your years past.
You can't and you don't have to keep carrying those things around.
So GET UP! JUST GET MOVING! DON'T TRY TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT NOW.
Just start by putting one foot onto the floor.
Throw those covers back...now sit up...lean forward, now RISE and get moving!
Don't look back. just keep moving forward!
Daylight has come. A new day has awaken. Night is no longer here.
Though my mind struggles with this, my spirit knows that I don't have to be a prisoner of the reality of my failures and wrong choices made.
But a pronounced student of life, practitioner of wisdom who was given a warriors spirit that dares me to live on. The spirit, encompassing all together...the body, mind and soul knows better than just one on it's own that "those whom 'HE ' has set free is free indeed".
