COMMUNITY CORNER-What's going on?

What's going on in the community?
I mean, besides murder, and mayhem? ALOT OF THINGS! I'm gonna start soon, writing more often about community activities. So many times I've heard people say, "There's nothing to do in the city besides go to the movies, rent DVDs, and go ice skating at Campus Martius!".
Funny thing is, I've been one of those persons saying that!

I have to start seeking things out, for both you and me dear Reader. I'm not a club or bar person, so you can forget that right now! For right now though, I have an update and some new health care information (as always) for low cost and free health care in Michigan. But first, I also have a very special acknowledgment...

IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN

On Saturday March 6th, 2010
ST. MARTIN DE PORRES High School-ALL CLASS ALUMNI REUNION
Hosted by the Class of 91'
Location: Charles H. Wright, African-American History Museum
Time: 9:00 pm-2:00 am
Cost: $20.00 was per person, at the door w/ light refreshments and drink.
* I actually graduated from there in 1987. Wow! I was looking forward to sharing some hugs, kids and wedding pictures (I have not the latter) share some stories, laughter and enjoying myself. It worked out fine, though I didn't have much to say. How do you pick up after 22 years? You say the usual, How have you been? What are yo doing for yourself? Are you married? Do you have any children? Then you hope someone else comes over and says something you all can relate to, to keep the conversation interesting and lasting for more than a minute or 30 seconds as some conversations were!

Anyway, I saw some old acquaintances. It was a hoot seeing how some of the "popular girls" turned out! I spoke with new people as well, as this was an ALL Class School reunion. All in all, I spoke with some interesting people! Many of 1987 grads, (My class) was not in attendance. I found out that many of the schools alumni are doing well for themselves though, including some members of my graduating class! Fun seems to have been had by many. So, that was nice. Looking at everyone just reminded me of years gone by, the descent of my youth. As 'Dorothy' once said, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto!"

MEETTA TALKS!

THOUGHTS for TODAY..um ...NO!
These are Thoughts for a LIFETIME!

"That thing you wanted to do,
whether you do it or not...
time is still going to pass.
So do it and live a life, worth living."
------------------------
As advised to me by
Crystal, St. Martin De Porres High School, Class of 97'.
At our All Class Reunion on Saturday March 6, 2010.
-------------------------

"AGE, DOES NOT MATTER in successful living.
While it may be true that SOME opportunities of my youth
have passed me by,
I will forever remember that
new opportunities ALWAYS present themselves!"
Meetta, Class of 87'.

Thank you Crystal, we ALL need encouragement,
Lest we faint (give up).
