B.I.B.L.E.- Wisdom Calls Aloud To Us

THIS IS...
Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth.
Hey New Believers in Christ...and those who are seeking!
I know it is tough to know how to live a life in Christ as a new convert, and as a seasoned believer in him. But you have to know that God has already supplied everything that you need to live a successful life through his Son Jesus. He has already prepared the tools that you will need. They will work for you if ...you apply them to your lifestyle and remain open to Gods spirit! Wisdom is one of those tools! She boldly makes herself known and available to you. But if you reject wisdom, there is a heavy price that you will ultimately end up paying.

Proverbs 1:20-33
Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:

"How long will you simple one love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?
If you had responded to my rebuke,
I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you.
But since you rejected me when I called and
no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,
since you ignored all my advice
and would not accept my rebuke ,
I in turn will laugh at your disaster;
I will mock when calamity overtakes you--
when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

Then they will call to me but I will not answer;
they will look for me but will not find me.
Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord,
since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke,
they will not eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.
For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
but whoever listens to me will live in safety
and be at ease, without fear of harm."

Footnotes
(v.1) The picture of wisdom calling aloud in the streets is a personification--a literary device to make wisdom come alive for us. Wisdom is not a separate being; it is the mind of God revealed. By reading about Jesus Christ's earthly ministry, we can see wisdom in action. In order to understand how to become wise, we can listen to wisdom calling and instructing us in the book of Proverbs. *(For New Testament calls to wisdom, see 2 Timothy 1: 7 & James 1:5). Make sure you don't reject God's offer of wisdom to you!

For Women Only ~ MEN too!~ Is Wisdom a "SHE"?

I'm Still talking about the lovely Wisdom. Geez, She is totally amazing!
YES! Wisdom is referred to as a " SHE"! But ladies don't get the big head! Really wisdom "is the mind of God being revealed." It is NOT a separate being! Referring to wisdom as a she "is only a literary device in order to bring wisdom Alive for us!"

Calling wisdom a "she" means that she, just like women is very strong, intelligent, compassionate and sees potential. Women also have the ability to encourage people to do great things by sharing knowledge and causing them to apply it to their lives. Like that, Wisdom has that innate ability to want to help, to nurture, like many of us (usually). Women can also be very, very convincing and creative about how we get our point across.

Though many of us have sincere hearts to help, many other women have been known to use their powers for evil. That's the difference with wisdom! Wisdom will offer her services to help better the situation without need to satisfy self! Many women seducers are only out for their own benefit. They are destructive and cannot be trusted. Wisdom can be trusted completely because she comes from God un-tainted. She comes without desires of her own. She seeks only to be obedient to God, using her powers for good intent.

Everybody, usually this column is for women only, but ladies this particular topic calls for both genders to unite on this one! Knowledge is for everyone! Wisdom is here for all of us. So welcome brothers into our world.

Ladies, my precious Sister Girls, we will go back to our regular column being just for us on next week. Thank you for your patience and allowing the guys in this time. As you know, all this week I've started devoting all of my 12 columns totally to wisdom. I've introduced to you what and who wisdom is. I've written about some of her strong points and why she exists. With wisdom, Understanding can't be too far behind. But did you know that the bible calls Wisdom and Understanding a "SHE"? Let me show you.

"Does not wisdom call out?
Does not Understanding raise her voice?
On the heights along the way,
where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
beside the gates leading into the city,
at the entrances, she cries out;
I raise my voice, to all mankind.
You who are foolish, gain understanding.
Listen, for I have worthy things to say;
I open my lips to speak what is right.
My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.
All the words of my mouth are just;
none of them is crooked or perverse.
To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.
Choose my instruction instead of sliver,
knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom, is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her."

FOOTNOTES
Proverbs 8:1
(V. 1) Wisdom's call is contrasted to the call of the adulteress in Chapter 7. Wisdom is portrayed as a woman who guides us (Proverbs 8:1-13) and makes us succeed (proverbs 8:14-21).
Wisdom was present at the creation and works with the Creator (8:22-31). God approves of those who listen to wisdom's counsel (8:32-35). Those who hate wisdom love death (8: 36). Wisdom should affect every aspect of one's life, from beginning to end. Be sure to open all corners of your life to God's direction and guidance.

Hey, I hope this helps you Dear Reader to know more about wisdom
and why you should embrace her.

True Believer-What is Wisdom? Pt. 1

Dear Readers,
My beloved, "seasoned", brothers and sisters in Christ. This column is for you, those who have already received Christ, seek God's word and already living a life in Christ for some time now. No doubt you have experienced (hearing the "voice" of) God, or have felt his presence in your situations. You know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that JESUS REIGNS and that GOD IS REAL! You have matured in him and are different (for the better) because of him! You are what I call a "seasoned" Christian, a "True Believer." I am once again on a mission to show you, to show us all, that though we drew near to Christ as he first drew near to us and have received his gift of Salvation... that we are still to CONTINUE TO BE diligent in our growth in him, as opposed to growth for self. We can't allow ourselves to be the captain of us! It's not enough to just say "Jesus is the head of my life and the Captain of my soul". It is equally, if not more important, to live it and if done in TRUTH, others will see for themselves what we truly are!

We must not ever get arrogant in our faith, so much so, that we think we "already know enough", "have done enough". What ever level in Christ you have reached, it's never high enough! There is always more the word of God is willing to teach us, as long as we are willing to learn. It doesn't even matter if you've been a Christ follower for many, many years. You shouldn't get too comfortable in where you are in your faith. Problems, dreams and hopes get bigger and bigger. They don't stay the same size and neither should your knowledge of God and especially not your faith!

Don't get to constricted by your own ideas of what a "True Believer", should be about. You won't be rewarded by God just for your "good works" and hospitality even unto the poor if your character, your heart and attitude about doing such things don't line up with the word of God and the teachings of Jesus The Christ, who is our Lord AND Savior. Don't be the one God calls a fool!

There are several components involved in helping to achieve a True believer mentality. These components will help you achieve a "Christ-like" way of being that will lead ultimately to the pleasing of God. We will start with wisdom as you are a believer already, which means you have accepted Jesus' invitation into your life, first receiving his gift of Salvation protecting your eternal life as well as your natural one. We will start with wisdom. Many of us have not yet fully come to understand Wisdom's powerful purpose for which God intended her.

Proverbs 8:14-21
"Counsel and sound judgement are mine;
I have understanding and power.
By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just;
by me, princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth.
I love those who seek me, find me.
With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than fine gold;
What I yield surpasses choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
bestowing wealthy on those who love me and make their treasuries full."

Readers, it is important to remember that God is a living" God. Jesus still reigns in the earth and The Holy Spirit still is available and dwelling amongst us, waiting to dwell in us. God IS the beginning and the end, Alpha and Omega. The earth and heavens will pass away before one word of Gods will. He is forever among us and chooses to continue to bestow his gifts of Grace and Mercy upon us. But they don't travel alone! Wisdom has always been present and Understanding both, continue to reside and are available to us, and work diligently on our behalf while working in us, if we are open. We just need to "listen" to them.

I was there when he set the heavens in place,

When he gave the sea its boundary

Then I was a craftsman at his side.
I was filled with delight day after day,

FOOTNOTES
Proverbs Chapter 8, verses 22 through 31
(v. 22-31) God says that wisdom is primary and fundamental. It is the foundation on which all life is built. Paul and John may have alluded to some of Solomon's statements about wisdom to describe Christ's presence at the Creation of the world
(See Colossians 1:15-17; Colossians 2:2-3; And Revelation 3:14)

THANKS FOR READING!

MEETTA TALKS ~ Proverbs & Wisdom

HELLO READERS,
Thanks for tuning in for another night of "Meetta Talks". In this column, I share vast amounts of knowledge, and insight to particular situations. I very often, offer encouragement using personal life experiences of my own as well as from others. In this case, the writings of Solomon come to mind. Solomon was the wisest king in history. He became that because of all the things he could have asked for, he asked God for wisdom! See, Solomon knew that whatever he asked for in the way of material things, such as money and other material gain, would fade away with the passing of time. Solomon sought something that was more valuable, something that would be with him a lifetime. He asked for something that would ultimately bring God great glory in fulfilling his purpose in him. What Solomon asked God for was for the benefit of others! Not to build himself up.

What Solomon sought was something that men have died for and yet still never gained! What King Solomon sought was a great gift, the kind that only God could grant. That's not to say that Solomon didn't have his faults. It's just to say that Solomon possessed a world full of knowledge and knew how to apply it and no man has ever, EVER been compared to him in that capacity! The thing is, because God was so pleased with Solomon's request, God gave Solomon Great wealth and built his reputation as the wisest, wealthiest and most honorable King EVER! God made no other like King Solomon.

1 Kings 3:7-14
*Solomon asks God for wisdom
"Now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?

The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, "Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, now will there ever be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for--both riches and honor--so that in your lifetime you have no equal among kings. And if you walk in my ways and obey my statues and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life. "

1 Kings 4:29-34
(More Scripture)
"God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless, as the sand on the seashore. Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite-wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol (All very wise men). And his (Solomon's) fame spread to all the surrounding nations. He spoke three thousand Proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five.
He described plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also taught about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. Men of all nations came to listen to Solomon's wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom."

Today Reader, I want to explain something to you about this weeks theme for my columns. Yes! This weeks "Theme" for all my 12 columns. I don't normally create a theme. Usually , my writings are all different but for some reason the subject of WISDOM just keeps coming up in me. I have my own journey and questions to deal with. So maybe, you will find something useful in this weeks columns that may answer some questions or guidance for you as well! Wisdom just keeps finding her way to me, holding onto me, making herself known to me. I take comfort in it. There is much to learn about wisdom. We need to take it seriously. We need to realize its there to assist us, not hinder us. We need to understand its presence and its purpose!

It seems that the world we live in, has grown increasingly difficult and full of hopelessness. We need to understand as a people, Gods creation, that we have purpose, that things happen for reasons that we may never figure out. We also desperately NEED TO UNDERSTAND that there is a way to cope with things or at least a "right" way to maneuver through the tough situations we face. We need guidance. Guidance that will help us in a positive way. We may come out battered and beaten by disappointments throughout life, but we must know that there is a way that we can come out with our minds in tact. There is a way to deal with the situation in the best possible light if... we are open to it.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT A PROVERB IS?
A proverb is a wise saying that describes patterns i that operate in every day life. It offers us advice on how to conduct ourselves in various situations.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT WISDOM IS?
Wisdom is a God-given gift and also the result of a desperate search mandated by life experiences. It is the ability to make good use of knowledge; the ability to recognize right from wrong; It is good judgement. By the way, wisdom is only effective when you activate it by using it! True Wisdom is ..."The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Listen, my son to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. My son, if sinners entice you, do not give into them." ...Proverbs chapter 1 verses 7-10

Solomon says don't be a know- it- all. Stay open! Seek wisdom from others that are wiser than you, especially those who know you well and can give you valuable insight and counsel. Learn how to learn from others. You don't know it all! Remember, only God knows it all.

Thanks for Reading.
May wisdom always be with you!

TeEn SpEaK- Young People & Wisdom

HEY YOUNG PEOPLE &
...The adults who love them.
Hello Everyone and welcome to "TEEN SPEAK!"
I'm back again with my column that is most directed towards young people.
Teen Speak is where I write about the concerns of teens and young adults. Right from the beginning of creating this column back in early 2009, I have publicly encouraged the young people to provide comments and story ideas from their points of view. Your input is important! You want your parents, teachers and other adults in your life to "understand" you then let it out utilizing EVERY POSITIVE vehicle that is available for you in which to do that! Feel free to use my column as one of your vehicles. I, ENCOURAGE YOU! I'm still waiting for your input. Although this presented itself to me a few days back, I recall my son also speaking to me about writing something to assist young people in making good decisions. So here you go!

Today's subject matter is Wisdom.
I know, I know! Wisdom?
Some of you are saying "couldn't she come up with something more fun?"
Nope. Wisdom may not be a fun topic, but it sure is needed! Especially in this day and age, where adults and youth alike seem to have forgotten about her. And oh yes, historians refer to wisdom as a "she". In any case, many of you young people believe that your own thoughts are where wisdom begins and ends. But that's OK because you're still young and you still have much growing to do! By the way, this may hurt, but you know how some of you think "WHEN I GET GROWN, MY PARENTS AND NOBODY ELSE WILL BE ABLE TO TELL ME NOTHING! I'M GONNA MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS AND LIVE THE WAY I WANT TO LIVE!! Hmph.", (even if you know they know better).

With Wisdom, no matter how old you get in years, she will always know more than you! Like those adults that are available and ready to teach you right, Wisdom too will not be out of your reach. She may come in through a good or bad situation that you experienced. She may "speak" to you in your own thoughts. She may come through another person like your teacher, coach, neighbor or friend. She may even (and will) use someone you don't know or even like! Maybe she came through that cop that arrested you for being out of order! She may come through something you read or something else you were looking at. Wisdom is unlimited in how she works. So much so, that she can even work through a child to get to you! The thing is, however she comes, Wisdom is always there waiting to guide you. She's always waiting for you to ask for and receive her!

Here is something else! Like the adults you may "dupe" from time to time, know that you can't outsmart Wisdom. She will always be wiser than you will ever be! "Wisdom was present even at the beginning (of Creation)." Although "she" is very, very old, wisdom is still "cool", "hip", "sick", "wicked" or "down with it" (whatever phrase you all are using now!) The bottom line is, wisdom is always willing to share herself with you! Even in her old age and knowing, she is not arrogant, selfish or stubborn. She makes herself readily available to you, to us all! She does this for your benefit and the benefit of those around you. Young people, do something very wonderful for yourself,and start seeking her now! Whenever a situation or decision comes up, think before you act. Weigh the Pros and Cons (the good and bad) of the situation before you say or do something that you may very much regret later! Choose carefully and proceed with caution in whatever you decide to do, especially when it comes to sex, babies, abortions, relationships, friendships, acquaintances, gangs, education, family, peer pressure dares, lying and other things that may weigh heavy on you. REMEMBER, YOU ARE THE ONLY YOU, THAT YOU HAVE! YOU CANT' BE REPLACED!
Life, is not a do over!

Know this too, most adults understand that you are facing very difficult times right now, in the times we live in . We, as adults, (most of us) know and understand whole heartily, your struggles with peer pressure, drugs, alcohol, school, broken home turmoil, suicide, homosexuality, lesbianism, religion, betrayal by friends and potential mates. We understand first love excitement and the confusion. Remember WE, adults, were teens once too! And though the times may have been different, the problems and struggles we faced, weren't any different than what you are facing now! Granted the level and number of the struggles you face have multiplied many times over, but they still aren't that different!

There was pressure on girls and boys too to have sex when your Grandparents, parents and I were teens and young adults. (Keep in mind I was born in 1967 and I'm only 42 1/2 years young, Thank you very much!) Young people have been getting pregnant for centuries outside of marriage. (By the way, I didn't say it was smart to do. I was just stating fact! Actually, it' s not a a smart thing for anybody to do! But we'll talk abut that in another column. Remind me by commenting on this page if I forget. OK?)

The thing is, wisdom is good for all ages! Wisdom is no respecter of person. Meaning she doesn't discriminate. If you want wisdom, all you have to do is ask God for it and be open to it. Wisdom, by the way, does not conform or go along with just what YOU think it should be! Wisdom speaks truth! And you don't have to like truth. You just have to accept it if you really want Wisdom's help! Let me share something very special with you young people alright?

An old Proverb says : (* By the way, Proverbs are wise sayings that teach us how to live and conduct ourselves in any situation.)
The following are words of King Solomon, the wisest of all kings.
I read that he wrote 3000 proverbs!
"For attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight;
for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, (prudent~ do what Momma say and look it up!) doing what is right and just and fair;
For giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young--
Let the wise listen and add to their learning,
and let the discerning get guidance--
for understanding proverbs and parables, (parables are...) the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline."
Listen my son, to your Father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching
They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck."
*Please note: The writer is talking about if you have wise parents that offer helpful information to you that will better your life, not add sorrows to it!

Proverbs chapter 1 verses 1-9. Check your Holy Bible. I used my sons N.I.V. (New International Version )* Devotional Bible, Classic Edition.

Young people,
Take heart to what I have written.
Wisdom is an unspoken necessity of life, but
You can not live a decent life without her!
Take heed, better to start acquiring her services sooner than later.
Take care, Ms. Meetta

Men, Women & Children - "HE GIVES US BOYS"

WELCOME BACK, DEAR READER!
Many of you may already know from past articles, that in this column I speak on any subject that covers individual issues of Men, Women and Children. But I also cover family issues as well. In today's Men, Women, and Children column, I want to do something special. TODAY, I AM CELEBRATING! I am celebrating SONS!

I am a single mother and I have been blessed to raise a beautiful, creative, intelligent, friendly, well spoken, healthy, Christ loving Son. My son is my only child. When he was born, I really didn't understand that it was going to be just he and I and what that all meant. I had no idea how to handle something like that and it could have turned out much more terrible than it did! We had a VERY HARD TIME trying to make it, that little baby and me! "Family" turned on us! The Dad turned out to be (unbeknownst to me beforehand) an incredible verbal and emotional abusive, self-centered person. On our journey, my son and I both, were abused by Christians and non-Christians alike, People we knew and people we didn't know! On the other hand, we were also helped by Christians and Non-Christians, People we knew and people we didn't know! God is so WONDERFUL! He touched and softened many, many hearts. He blessed with finances, shelter and protected us. Those hurts that did come, he kept me and my little boy protected enough (now almost a man) that those hurts didn't destroy us. Even with all of the mistakes I made, my son at 19, still hugs me a plenty and tells me "Thanks Mom, for loving me and working so hard to teach me. Thanks for not giving up!"

My son, is 19 now and with the blessing of Christ, he's turning 20 in November and will live a long, long prosperous and productive life, doing Gods' will. My son is not perfect in the flesh, but he could have turned out a lot worse! A whole lot worse! My son is a quiet person, that is until he gets to know you! he smiles a lot. He is a giver, a helper. He is kind. He is a bit of an introvert. He is goal oriented. He has plans for his future. Sure he has his "lazy"moments like most teenagers, but I am praying to Christ that he will outgrow that! He can also be a very big pain in the butt, but aren't most teenagers at some point? But hey! Overall, my son is also a very likable person!

Maybe just like your own child, on a regular basis, even co-workers of mine sincerely ask about him. They constantly ask how he's doing and giving him plenty of well wishes. They hope and believe Good things for my son. The most wonderful thing is when known Christian believers tell me that they are keeping my son up in prayer! One of them "RJ", actually went toe-to- toe with another guy we know, in protecting my son. This happened when on the way to my son's 18th birthday party, the one guy told RJ and two other friends that he actually wanted to "corrupt" my son, initiating him into "manhood". I don't need to tell you people what kind of corruption that man had in mind. What do small minded, un-wise, immoral people men usually do with 18 year old males on their birthday? An "innocent" 18 year male on his birthday... you figure it out!

He spoke of the plans on how he was going to do it and the word is, RJ acted as a Father figure to my son, spoke against this man's plans and "warned this man" about why he should drop his plans over my son! Before you get any ideas Dear Reader, The "good guy" RJ, and I have nothing going on. He being an inspirational, intelligent, young productive man of God, I asked him to come and "Bless my son" on this special day. My son and I were both happy and honored that he did it. RJ and I were conversating just the other day and he mentioned to me just a few days ago (almost 2 years later) that he was honored as well that I asked him! He also said a prayer over the rest of the youth at my son's party, which was like a big, clean, loud family gathering held at the church in 2008. Now that I think on this again, what my friend did for my son, is what "A LOVING FATHER WOULD DO"! Come to think of it, his "real" Dad, was invited and didn't even come! My, My, My! See, God really will give you what you need, right when HE KNOWS you need it! As it is written: "I'll be a Father to the Father-less", thus said thy Lord Thy God.

Even though this column is not one that I designated specifically as a "Christian" teaching column, I find that WISDOM, you can't escape from. And wisdom was present when the earth was formed. So follow me if you will into the "book of wisdom" as I celebrate sons.

Proverbs Chapter 6 verses 20-23.
"My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mothers teaching. Bind them upon your heart forever; fasten them around your neck.
When you walk, they will guide you; When you sleep, they will watch over you;
when you awake, they will speak to you.
For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light,
and the corrections of discipline are the way to life."

Devotional
HE GIVES US BOYS
Author: Charles Swindoll

THROUGHOUT history, long before the marines, God has been looking for a few good men: "For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him" (2 Chronicles 16:9a)

"I looked for a man among the whole would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30 a)

God, give us men! Give us Noah's, to whom you can trust your mighty plans;
Give us Abraham's, who are willing to leave home and homeland to follow your call;
Give us Josephs, who would rather endure prison than violate one of your commands;
Give us Moses-es, who are willing to stand as your mouthpiece against the most powerful leaders in all the world;
Give us Daniels, who would rather face a lions den than compromise their faith;
God, give us men!
However, the reality is that God does not give us men-he gives us boys. To us, as parents, he gives the task of forging these boys into men. To help equip us for that task, God has provided the book of Proverbs, which is largely the advice of a father to his son...Our children are our legacy. As a parent, are you taking that thought seriously?" Amen! I agree with you Mr. Swindoll.

If there is a son in your life, Celebrate him today!
Thanks for Reading, Ms. Meetta

FOR WOMEN ONLY! -Be content with self!

Hey, My Sister Girls!

"Though we are not related, nor have we met,
but we are all connected by humanity, no matter what our Race, Creed or Culture."~ Meetta J. Martin

In this column, I share with you words of encouragement through personal experiences of my own as well as from others close to me. The hope is that you may be encouraged by and grow from these stories. Many of the things, you may have already experienced. Hopefully, you too will find inspiration and solace in my writings. If you read something that inspires you and you have a google account, feel free to comment on this site or you can contact me by e-mail. My e-mail address is in the heading of this page.

Sister Girls, it's been a long time since we last had our chat. I believe the last one was around Mothers' day. And I apologize for not keeping up. So much has happened. Funny thing is, I can't even remember it all! It's amazing how things seem SOOOO IMPORTANT when they are happening and when they are over, I've seem to have forgotten what all the hoopla was about! I can tell you this though, the subject matter of men and women has come up a few times during these last few months and I have something to share with you. First, you should know that I am one of those women that has learned a lot from her experiences and I don't take them lightly. I defend the woman. WOMEN ARE VALUABLE AND SPECIAL AND WE SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH! Unfortunately though, many of us women don't know our own worth! Sometimes, I am so strong in my opinion that I have irritated people, usually men, and dependent women because they can't separate me from my strong beliefs on this subject. If I think a lesson is worthwhile, being helpful to someone as in this case of self-esteem, no matter how controversial, I will share it!

I've learned a lot in my life of being a single woman, never married and over the age of 40. I've been challenged a great deal, especially when it comes to how I have been viewed! I've had to be strong, an independent thinker, self-motivator, multi-tasker, bill payer, head-of household, including being my sons primary source for guidance, direction and nurturing, provision, a confidant, and yes the disciplinarian. Raising a boy to be a man as woman alone and on my own most of the time, its been a tough road!

Many people in the past, have expressed concern (And hope) for me to be found by that one special person who comes and changes my life for the better with "True" Friendship, undeniable Love, acceptance, support and then marriage. But you know, I don't how that will happen, but hey I'm open! In the meantime though, still finding contentment in my life as it is. Also still striving to BE BETTER, do better and go after those thing I REALLY want and see myself doing. Even if no one else does! In light of this, Ladies I want to share this piece of wisdom that never grows old for me.

..."Don't look for YOUR joy or happiness in anyone else! Don't seek nor allow another person be the primary source for these things for you! Be content with yourself first!" If someone special comes into your life, (a mate, or a new friend for example) their job is to ADD to your life. They are to add positivity to the positive way you already view yourself and what's happening in your life. They are not to be the primary source for your happiness!

Don't allow yourself to become dependent on someone else to provide that for you! That's a tough job, a heavy burden that no one has the ability to perform successfully without a great deal of pain. Putting your complete happiness in someone else and expecting them to be responsible for you in this way, is not fair to them! Besides, you can't control people! And if you try, you are only asking for trouble. We each have our own minds! We're human and humans are flawed! We often let each other down by either the choices we make, things we say or do!

FIND CONTENTMENT IN YOUR OWN LIFE! Then, that which you desire will be attracted to that light! Usually, no one who is healthy of mind, self-esteem and character, is going to want an emotionally dependent person, primarily relying on them for joy, happiness or completion. I've personally been on both sides of that situation. When I was more dependent and less self assured, (back in the day) I got my feelings hurt! As I begun to grow more self assured and finding Joy for myself, I ran into the problem of weak men looking to hook up with me because they admired my strength! They said things like, "If I had a strong woman like you, I would be a better man. I would be alright. I would be able to achieve things." My response would be, "Why can't you become a better man, be alright and go achieve things before you talk to me? No productive woman who cares about herself and trying to achieve things is going to want a dependent, clingy man dragging her down." And Women, that's the way a lot of men think too! I said it once already, twice I think, Now I'll say it again,
"BE CONTENT WITH SELF, FIRST!"

MEETTA TALKS-It rains (even) in the Basement

Today is Saturday, September 18, 2010.
Hello Everyone!
Welcome to (or back) to "MEETTA TALKS." This is the column where I share life experiences, wisdom and offer encouragement based on personal experiences. One thing you should know about me, I have a story to tell, quite a few of them actually and over the years, I've been encouraged to write them down! In fact, it was even told to me that high levels of prosperity would begin to fall on me when I wrote "THEE BOOK", based on my life's experiences in the Lord. This book will also be one to bring God great Glory and honor for what Jesus has done in my life as well as the life of my son. This book is necessary because for some people, the only book they will ever read and learn from, is the "book of someone else's life. And their are SO MANY STORIES yet to be told and be encouraged by. Mine is only but one more.

As I am preparing to become a homeowner, I am living in a place where (I thought) I could better financially prepare. I temporarily live in a basement apartment, (moving out in a few weeks) and yesterday while I was out running errands, a thought was implanted in my mind... "IT RAINS (EVEN ) IN THE BASEMENT." My, my, my! If that isn't a modern day prophetic statement, I don't know what is! Just when you think you are at your lowest, something happens that even while yet in the basement, you still aren't protected form every storm that blows! ...Case in point: When I got "home" yesterday, (Sept. 17, 2010) hell was waiting to break lose. See, the Holy spirit will prepare you for stuff! Yes, he will! 'Cause he loves us just that much!! And wisdom (who the bible calls a she) will either accompany him or never be too far behind. Understanding, on the other hand (who is closer to us than a kinsman) will often take it's time, but eventually if we are open to it. Understanding will show up too (sooner or later)!

Because of what happened, (though my son and I both expected it, but were hoping God would quiet that storm) and were "hurt" at first, (disappointed really is the word), he and I still turned around, not a 1/2 hour later, went on and enjoyed the evening at the movies! See, we have enough faith and been through enough things in our lives to have a healthy LACK OF FAITH in humanity (on their own) AND A HUGE AMOUNT OF FAITH IIn The Christ, JESUS AND GOD, ABBA FATHER. I don't know about you Dear Reader, but my son and I are champions through Christ Jesus which strengthens us! (Hear the song "Champions". It's on my playlist, as #1.

This morning, after I'd awake, but still laying down, I was encouraged in myself that THIS WAS THE TIME for me to begin that book. Can't put it off anymore. The title was even given to me, which I will not divulge at this time, but it is very poignant even for what journey I am on now and some pangs from that journey as well as lessons I am now enduring. I also now know from what point in my life to start writing! That! I didn't know before. A life covers such a vast amount of time and situations. Where does one begin? "Start at the beginning" some wise cracking person would say, but for many, where is that?... is still a very real question.

It's was in 2004 where I got the first serious push of encouragement to write "thee book" describing events of my life. I had already written and published a book of encouraging poetry in 2002, "YOU CAN'T SAY THAT! ;Poetry to Strengthen, Heal and Encourage." It that was a book that helped to provide release and strengthening to others as well as to myself. I believed there were more books to come, but did not know when or what to write about! When I went to that service, I went in desperation. Where I was temporarily living, though it was a "Christian household" I felt no real peace to pray and worship freely freely, so I prayed quietly not to offend. I wanted to "cry out" to the Lord as I was in pain because of situations, nevertheless, I prayed! I have since come to understand that though many proclaim Christ, they walk in it in different ways! Being a Christian means different things to different people.

ALL Christians SHOULD BE, but many current Christians are already prayer warriors. They understand and prepare for spiritual battle and so their prayers reflect that. Lest you forget, their is a still a battle of 'Good and Evil' going on in the world. Prayer Warriors don't "PRAY PRETTY". Because they understand the attack of the enemy is serious. He, the enemy, has been around for centuries "walking to and fro about he earth, seeking whom he may devour" . He has caused major calamities in peoples lives and is very real!. Prayer warriors get to the heart of the matter with the word of God which is also the sword of the spirit and attack and provide defense against the spirit of the enemy. I fall in this category. I don't pray pretty. Their are times as a believer in Christ when you just have to open your mouth loudly and proclaim Golds victory whether it's on the behalf of ourselves and others.
Prayer warriors prayer are fervent and aggressive. You can't cause damage in the kingdom of darkness praying 'pretty' or with 'pretty' faith. You've got to know what YOU KNOW IN THE LORD and be willing to stand on it, act upon it!

Anyway, I went to this service believing and hoping to when I was going through great hardships and including homelessness, and was so dependent on people, but held on to greater dependency on the Lord. It was was at a "Worship and Prayer" service a friend took me too at the time ( I am a Christ follower, you must understand that first) as I desperately needed a place to fellowship and praise openly with other believers and those that were seeking. There is no company I want better to keep outside of "True Believers" other than sitting and dwelling in the presence of God.

I went there and ended up meeting someone , a mighty woman of God, Ms. Deniece, A Prophet in the Lord thy God, by way of New York. She had spoken things to me, that there is NO WAY, she could have known! It was a small group of people there, most of which I had never seen. I had not told my problems to anyone who worked there or even those of them who knew me, except my dear friend at the time who took me to the service. She said, "(Meetta) I believe the Lord has a word for you there (at this particular service)." Granted, The Spirit of God ...Holy spirit can speak to you ANYWHERE , ANYTIME, but it is in PRAISE AND WORSHIP where the Holy Spirit dwells. And with so many of us there collectively praising and worshipping honoring words, him with song and open hearts he had no recourse but to show up!

It was near the end of the night, and AFTER THE FACT, after many others had been specially spoken to, that I had settled into the mode of pure thankfulness. I remember saying, " Well Lord, if I don't hear a word (a special word tonight in this place) that's fine. It's OK! ...Just Thank you for Loving me, keeping me and my son. Thank you for this outlet tonight where I can really praise you! Thank you for the freedom of this place in which in to do it. Thank you for saving me Jesus. If you never speak another word to me or about me, YOU have already done too much."

Guess what Dear Reader? After another long while, that prophet came right to the front on the side of where I was sitting. She looked right in my direction. My eyes opened so wide, my spirit was SO open as she began to wave and smile. Her countenance changed. The room grew quiet. She continued to look at me. As she started waving, tears began to swell in my eyes. "With a wave and a smile...Hello! How are you doing?...They think you're crazy. but with a wave and a smile, even stopping to wait for a response they don't know you really are sincere! GOD KNOWS THE HEART THAT HE GAVE YOU and is pleased with it."

By the time she had waved, smiled and began her first sentence to me, I had already been brought to tears, Because I KNEW THAT WAS FROM THE LORD THY GOD. MY HEART WAS SO FILLED WITH JOY AND THANKSGIVING that my eyes were so flooded with tears that I couldn't see! Ms. Deniece, wanted me to stay focused, but shoot I was just so glad that God was mindful of me, that he didn't have to give her anything else to say to me! I am glad I listened to the rest though. She went on to speak of my current situation at that time, including facts about my struggle through it! She also spoke of outcome of it even leading to those experiences in which God would glorify himself in me and my son's life. He just needed me to keep believing, keep praying, keep hoping and stay focused on him even while I was in the basement of those troubles! He wanted me to use the gift of writing that he had given me. The gift he knew I had started giving up on!

I watched that Prophetess' face and listened to her voice carefully. She was not speaking out of herself. So I took to heart, what she had to say. It's been years since, but at least twice, since the short time I have lived in this basement apartment, I have been reminded of that book. "THEE BOOK" OF MINE THAT GOD IS WAITING TO GUIDE AND ANOINT. No more waiting.

Dear Reader,
Thanks for reading with me again.
May you keep God close, especially when it "rains in the basement" of your own tough situations.
BUT Remember, IF YOU are IN The Basement because GOD ALLOWED YOU TO BE THERE, then he also promises to "LIFT YOU UP" out of there, however HE allows that to happen! And the circumstances that bring you out of that basement, may not be pleasing to you, but what satan meant for bad, God will turn it for YOUR good!
BELEIVE!!!

B.I.B.L.E.- Recognizing THE SPIRIT OF GOD

BASIC INSTRUCTION INSTRUCTION
BEFORE LEAVING EARTH

HEY! Welcome back everyone to a new edition of Meetta's Blog.

To remind you...B.I.B.L.E. column is to teach "New Believers" or "New Converts "in Christ (also others of you who may be seeking, but have not yet decided to follow Christ)...principles of God, basic knowledgeable facts about our Lord Saviour (Jesus of Nazareth), and other character building traits. I will also provided information on how to live a "Christ Like Life".

For this column, just to remind you again, you should have your own bible handy to follow along. I use the Life Application Study Bible. N.I.V., The New International Version by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. Wheaton Illinois. But use what you have and feel comfortable with , SO LONG AS IT TEACHES THE WORD OF GOD without too much lost translation AND you understand it. Remember to always pray to Jesus for understanding and wisdom through the Father God, in Jesus name BEFORE you start to read "THE WORD."

So, let' s get started shall we. Many new believers and even seasoned believers struggle with the question of "How do you know what teachings to listen to and live by when it concerns God?" and "How do we know WHO to believe?

These are both good questions
because their are charismatic, charming, eloquent, attractive, (even famous) persons who represent and head many religious sects around the world. These religious sects teach different doctrines and many proclaim to be the right teachings of God and even using certain passages, (though not complete) to mis-lead you. I have found a way to tell and the teaching of it comes directly from the Bible. Today's lesson is called "TESTING THE SPIRITS."

The text for today's lesson is 1st JOHN verses 1-6
* Please note; This is Jesus' Disciple Apostle John speaking)

SCRIPTURE

(v.1) Dear Friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are form God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (v.2) This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, (v.3) but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

(v.4) You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater that the one who is in the world. (v.5) They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. (v.6) We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not form God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

FOOTNOTES
(v.1 & 2) "Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits" means that we shouldn't believe everything we hear just because someone says it is a message inspired by God. there are many ways to test teachers to see if their message is truly from the Lord;
#1. Check to see if their words match what God says in the Bible.
#2. Other tests include their commitment to the body of believers (1st John 2:19,
#3. Their lifestyles (1st John 3:23 & 24)
#4. And the fruit of their ministries (1st John 4:6).
#5. But the most important test of all, says John, is what they believe about Christ. Do they teach that Jesus is fully God and fully man? Our world is filled with voices claiming to speak for God. Give them these tests to see if they are indeed speaking God's truth.

(v.3) The antichrist will be a person who epitomizes all that is evil, and he will be readily received by an evil world. He is more fully described in 2 Thessalonians ch. 2:3-12 and Revelation 13. The "spirit of the antichrist" is already here! * Those who reject Christ are unknowingly or consciously siding with the spirit of the antichrist.

(v.4) It is easy to be frightened by the wickedness we see all around us and overwhelmed by the problems we face. Evil is obviously much stronger than we are. John assures us, however that God is even stronger. He will conquer all evil--and his Spirit and his Word live in our hearts!

(v.6)
False teachers are popular with the world because, like the false prophets of the Old Testament, they tell people what they want to hear. John warns that Christians who faithfully teach God's word will not win any popularity contests in the world. People don't want to hear their sins denounced; They don't want to listen to demands that they change their behavior. A false teacher will be well received by non-Christians.
